About the Workshop:
Project Life Cycle
Earn 8 PDUs at a fast paced, fun, practical 8-hour seminar on the Project Life Cycle. In addition to a review of the basics out of the PMBOK, the seminar will feature many real life examples and case studies. Additionally, there will be group exercises that will help participants to apply what they are learning and to network with and learn from others.
The instructor, Charles “Chick” Keller, brings 3 decades of experience designing project life cycles and managing projects to the seminar. Keller has spoken at over 30 conferences worldwide and taught many courses on project management.
Following is an illustrative list of what you can expect to learn.
Different ways to approach the same project; that is, alternative project life cycles.
The pros and cons of using different approaches to the same project.
Ten basic principles to follow when designing the project life cycle.
The key players and their roles in each stage of the project life cycle.
The role of the system analyst and the project manager in the project life cycle.
Learn the triggers that initiate a new project; that is start a new project life cycle.
Life cycle activities that overlap all phases of the project life cycle.
Typical project life cycles for IT projects and engineering construction projects.
The essential building blocks of IT systems, and how to use these building blocks to design the project life cycle.

Speaker Biography:
Charles W. "Chick" Keller, PMP
Charles W. "Chick" Keller has 30 years of executive experience working with engineering, construction, and IT firms to create and implement strategic plans, launch new products, improve profits and motivate professional workers. He has worked in VP positions for both United Telecom (now Sprint) and Black & Veatch. For 2000 to 2008 Keller was a professor at the University of Kansas where he taught Strategy, System Analysis, and Advanced PM.
Illustrative projects that Mr. Keller has managed or helped organize include: privatization of the United Kingdom’s government owned engineering firm; the building of Sprint’s all fiber network; the opening of Black and Veatch offices in Asia, and a review of lessons learned on billion dollar global projects. Additionally he was program manager for the 2500 project program to rebuild Iraq in 2004.
Chick has been active in PMI. Chick is currently President of the KC PMI chapter and in 2006 and 2007 Chick has served as VP of finance for the chapter. He has attended Region 6 meetings, and PMI’s national leadership conferences.
Mr. Keller is a registered Professional Engineer and a certified Project Management Professional, and has spoken at over 30 conferences worldwide.
