About the Speaker - Greg Smith:

Greg Smith is president of GS Solutions Group, a company specializing in practical agile training and software lifecycle improvement. Greg specializes in three areas:

  1. Tying agile to the bottom line - Greg works with customers to clearly correlate agile processes to lower costs and increased revenues.
  2. Agile in the big picture - Greg realizes agile is a small component in a larger business lifecycle. He helps companies successfully interface agile development into an overall business process.
  3. Scalability - Many teams move to agile then it fades away. Greg has stayed with teams after they moved to agile, and he has insight into what it takes to maintain and sustain a thriving software development process.

Greg is highly involved with the PMI community, being an early member of the PMI Agile Community of Practice and working with PMI chapters in Seattle, Orange County, Silicon Valley, San Diego, Kentucky, and Ohio.

BACKGROUND:

During his career, Greg has held positions as a Product Manager, Program Manager, Development Manager, ScrumMaster, and Project Manager. He has received numerous awards for his work in helping start-ups establish good software practices, and for helping large enterprises overcome bureaucracy and deliver urgent projects.

Greg became an instructor for Agile Project Management at Bellevue College in 2005. During that time Greg has helped 90 companies initiate their move to a more agile process. In 2009 Greg co-authored Becoming Agile in an Imperfect World. This book has helped a number of companies move to a more effective development lifecycle, and is often used as a guide for entire project teams.
